These educational activities are jointly provided by AXIS Medical Education and Texas & New Mexico Hospice Organization

Target Audience: Executive Directors, Clinical Managers, Corporate Compliance Officers, QAPI Coordinators, the Interdisciplinary Group, and Hospice Nurses.

The purpose of this education activity is to enhance the knowledge of the Hospice Registered Nurse in the area of end of life and palliative care by addressing excellence in hospice services, standards and ethical practices in an effort to promote quality, compassionate care for the terminally ill and their families as evidenced by participant post-test scores and course evaluations.

Learning Objectives:
• Identify appropriate ethical boundaries that honor your professional role.
• Discuss techniques to help patients and their families to validate their decisions at the end-of-life.
• Identify barriers and discrimination experienced by the LGBTQ+ community: self-perception, discrimination, stigma, decreased completion of ACP, and lack of healthcare provider knowledge.
• Discuss trends related to healthcare delivery which impact hospice and palliative care.
• Examine an interdisciplinary approach for patients with Intellectual Disability Disorder and hospice and palliative medicine.
• Explain common misconceptions when it comes to advance directives.
